Peptides at room temperature: powder, solution, and heat
Sealed powder tolerates ambient. Solution is a different question — and the honest answer is that we could not source one.
“Room temperature” covers two completely different questions, and they have different answers. Sealed lyophilized powder is the stable form. Once water is in the vial, you are asking about solution, which is the least stable state the peptide will ever be in.
Sealed powder
Freeze-dried peptide ships without cold packs, arrives after days in transit, and is still usable. That is the strongest practical evidence that dry powder tolerates ambient temperature for the length of a shipment.
Reagent suppliers publish long-term figures for powder — for example two years at −80°C, one year at −20°C. Those are laboratory numbers for multi-year archival storage. They tell you the powder is robust; they do not tell you how many days it survives on a kitchen shelf, because nobody publishes that.
After you add water
For peptides in solution the same suppliers publish six months at −80°C and one month at −20°C. Both are freezer figures. Neither describes a fridge, and certainly not a counter.
So the practical rule people follow is: keep the mixed vial cold, and treat time out of the fridge as time spent, not time free. We have no sourced figure for how much time that is. More on what is missing.
Ambient is not the same as heat
The risk worth taking seriously is not a room — it is heat. Peptide bonds are what denature, and the things that denature them are specific:
- A car in summer. A parked car interior goes far past ambient.
- Direct sunlight or a windowsill. Also a light problem, not just a heat one.
- A radiator, a warm appliance, the top of a fridge.
- Hot water or a microwave. Never, for any reason.
Anything containing GHK-Cu — Glow and KLOW both do — is also light sensitive, so a dark cupboard beats a clear counter even at the same temperature.
What we could not source
- How many hours or days sealed powder keeps at 20–25°C.
- How long a reconstituted vial keeps at 20–25°C.
- Any consumer-condition (2–8°C fridge) stability figure at all.
Where a figure does not exist, we would rather say that than repeat a number we found on another site. Check your product label or ask your supplier — they know what is in the vial.
